However, I do believe that you can use the RK3 to control GR4, as a plugin, and then also use the FCB to control everything else you ahve going on in MainStage. You cant use the RK3 in GR4 mode AND control other functions with RK3, only one mode at a time. I am sure it will be much faster to set up the FCB if you dont already know GR4 and MainStage's quirks.Īs far as how to use GR4 with MainStage, you ahve to use it as a plugin and treat it as such. ![]() It's only problem is that it will not show the patch number on it's display, it always reads 000.Īlso the default layout of RK3 comes thru when in the LEARN mode in the layout mode of MainsStage, IE you have to change the momentary Press/Release properties to Single or Alternate state toggles etc, depending on what you want to do exactly. RK3 has two modes GR4 mode and midi mode. I'm at the point where I have to run Reason rewired in SONAR with GR4 as a plug-in on a track to do what I want, so I haven't found a good solution either.Ĭlick to expand.THis is correct. I'm just saying that I think GR4 standalone grabs exclusive control of RK3's commands. But like I said I can't offer any help in MS. Standalone they will compete but as a plug-in you should be able to assign MIDI notes to it. I don't know Mainstage but it should be able the then send MIDI commands to the GR4 PLUGIN. You should be able to use the Controller Editor to assign MIDI and capture that in Mainstage. Now if you ran GR4 as a plug-in then the MIDI from the RK3 would be accessible for Mainstage. Now I could be wrong but my assumption was once GR4 took RK3's commands it became exclusive. If I ran GR4 with RK3 controlling it, the MIDI commands were not available to anything else. ![]() They each use a different interface for sound but I wanted RK3 to send MIDI to both. I've been trying to run Reason and GR4 at the same time. Not completely but I can sort of offer some thoughts on the process from what I've tried.
